Testing and refining multi-parametric investigation and data processing techniques for a better characterisation of the subsoil is what is envisaged in the agreement signed on 14 May between theIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) and the Department of Ancient Sciences of the Sapienza University of Rome.
The working group of the Functional Unit of the "Laboratory of applied geophysics measurements", coordinated by Marco Marchetti, will make available its means of investigation and the long experience in the geophysical exploration of the territory for the research and identification of important buried anthropic structures, necropolises and human settlements.
An important acknowledgment of INGV's activity in the field of geophysics applied to archaeology. After the agreements signed with the Superintendence for Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan area of Rome, the Province of Viterbo and southern Etruria (October 2017) and with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii (March 2018), the INGV adds this new and important technical-scientific collaboration aimed at enhancing the historical and cultural heritage of our country.
