A commemorative event dedicated to Professor Fabrizio Innocenti ten years after his death will be held on 5 April at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Pisa. Former full professor at the University of Pisa, Fabrizio Innocenti was Director of the Department of Earth Sciences and President of the Degree Course in Geological Sciences of the same University. In his scientific career he has offered his contribution to various research institutions such as the International Institute of Volcanology of Catania, merged into the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The aim of the event was to commemorate the scientific, didactic and coordination activity of the Professor, which made him one of the protagonists and promoters of the extraordinary development of the Italian volcanological community in the eighties thanks to the numerous researches on volcanism and magmatism he carried out throughout the world.
The Round Table "Big ideas for big projects: relevance and need for the role of Fabrizio Innocenti" will be dedicated to outlining the scientific, methodological and moral heritage that he has bequeathed to the scientific community.
The commemorative day is organized by the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Pisa, the Pisa Section of the INGV and the Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources of the CNR, with the contribution of the Italian Geological Society and the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology .
