On April 5th, a commemorative event will be held at the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Pisa, dedicated to Professor Fabrizio Innocenti, ten years after his passing. A former full professor at the University of Pisa, Fabrizio Innocenti was Director of the Department of Earth Sciences and President of the Geological Sciences Degree Program at the same university. Throughout his scientific career, he contributed to various research institutions, including the International Institute of Volcanology in Catania, which merged with theIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV).
The aim of the event was to commemorate the scientific, didactic and coordination activity of the Professor, which made him one of the protagonists and promoters of the extraordinary development of the Italian volcanological community in the eighties thanks to the numerous researches on volcanism and magmatism he carried out throughout the world.
The Round Table "Big ideas for big projects: relevance and need for the role of Fabrizio Innocenti" will be dedicated to outlining the scientific, methodological and moral heritage that he has bequeathed to the scientific community.
The commemorative day is organized by the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Pisa, the Pisa Section of the INGV and the Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources of the CNR, with the contribution of the Italian Geological Society and the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology .
