Exhibition of the "Mariano Carati" Vesuvius Mineralogical Collection at the Vesuvius Observatory Museum

From April 13, 2013, the Vesuvian mineralogical collection "Mariano Carati" will be open to the public at the Vesuvius Observatory Museum, located in Via Osservatorio, 80056, Ercolano (NA). It consists of approximately 440 specimens, of which approximately 300 are on display. The minerals on display represent 130 of the 230 currently known species from Somma-Vesuvius. The collection was acquired by the Vesuvius Observatory ofIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia in 2012, thanks to the donation of Mariano Carati, a Neapolitan scholar and collector.
