Exhibition of the "Mariano Carati" Vesuvius Mineralogical Collection at the Vesuvius Observatory Museum

From 13 April 2013 at the Vesuvius Observatory Museum located in via Osservatorio, 80056, Ercolano (NA,) will be? visible to the public the Vesuvian mineralogical collection "Mariano Carati", consisting of about 440 finds of which about 300 are on display. The minerals on display represent 130 species of the current 230 known from Somma-Vesuvius. The collection ? was acquired by the Vesuvius Observatory of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in 2012, thanks to the donation of Mariano Carati, a Neapolitan scholar and collector.
