Is it possible to make art and sciences dialogue, in this specific case, the earth sciences? Is it possible to invent a common language, a tool to effectively convey knowledge, emotions, traditions, culture? The history of art has offered us numerous representations of volcanic eruptions and catastrophic seismic events over time. Throughout history earthquakes and eruptions have fueled myths and legends. Inspired by them, many artists, in different ways, have depicted natural disasters, from the most ancient times until today. Prints, frescoes, canvases, photographs have contributed, and still contribute today, to preserving the memory of the disasters and the harmful effects caused by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
