From 19 to 24 July 2026, Stará Lesná in the spectacular Tatra Mountains of Slovakia will host theInternational Remote Sensing Summer School (IRSSS 2026), an advanced program for MSc, PhD students, and young researchers dedicated to remote sensing and analysis of mountain river systems. The initiative is organized as Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP), combining a mandatory online component with a week of in-person training.

The school offers 3 ECTS credits It includes an assessment based on active participation in both virtual lessons and field activities, with the submission of a short individual essay. Students not funded by Erasmus+ may still participate as self-funded students.

During the week on site, participants will take part in theoretical lessons, practical exercises and field demonstrations, using data from multi-ediperspectral satellite, with specialized software. 

The IRSSS 2026 is coordinated by the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University of Košice (UPJŠ) and created in collaboration with Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania), University of Cagliari and the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology - INGV (Italy), Slovak Academy of Sciences and Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic), ensuring academic quality, international diversity and strong links between research and education.
