A summer school will be held in Grottaminarda (AV) and Naples from 22 28 to June and will be held by expert researchers of theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), from the Department of Physics of the University of Naples Federico II (DSCG-UNINA), and of the Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences of the University of Bari (UNIBA). The main theme will be the close monitoring of faults, with a particular focus on the Irpinia area, through new technologies.
The summer school will be free, entirely funded by the PNRR MEET project (Monitoring Earth's Evolution and Tectonic) dell'INGV, will be open to doctoral students, post-docs, young researchers and early-career scientists. It will be held in the Irpinia area, the scene of one of the largest earthquakes in the Mediterranean and today one of the best-monitored seismic areas in Italy.
Participants are offered the opportunity to experience in the field the potential of new monitoring technologies for a new understanding of fault dynamics, through theoretical lessons and field measurements. In particular, the monitoring of the Irpinia site will be characterized by the use of optical fiber, full-GNSS in real time and installation of array nodal.
The school is open to thirty doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, young researchers and scientists who will fill out the application form. This must be sent by March 31, 2025, by filling out the form at following link.
