Japan and Italy, seismic and volcanic lands par excellence, have a long tradition of research and collaboration in the field of natural risks. There are numerous episodes of mutual solidarity on the occasion of natural disasters that have affected both nations. On July 17, 2018, an Italian-Japanese meeting was held at the Rome headquarters of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv) on monitoring, seismic, volcanic and environmental surveillance activities, as well as on the possibility of investing in joint research into georesources. The Japanese delegation illustrated Osaka's candidacy for Expo 2025 and informed of the opportunities for study stays at their research institutions.
