The course will be held from 2 to 7 July in Varenna (in the province of Lecco), at Villa Monastero Mechanics of earthquake faulting of the "Enrico Fermi" International School of Physics, promoted by the Italian Society of Physics (SIF), organized and sponsored by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
Five days dedicated to the training of the next generations of scientists, to provide an overview of the state of the art of knowledge of earthquake physics, the existing limits and the challenges that the scientific community will have to face in the near future.
There are 12 sessions that will deal with the most relevant aspects of fault mechanics. In addition to the theoretical aspects, space will be given to the applications and the concrete contribution that this field of investigation is able to provide to civil society. Thematic short talks, posters and final panel discussion will complete the rich programme.
50 students and young researchers from 15 countries and 17 different nationalities, selected from the most important research centers and universities in the world, will participate in the course.
