Maratea Special Award to Maria Grazia Ciaccio and Giovanna Cultrera, researchers at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) for the book Earthquake and Seismic Risk, published by Ediesse.
This is the reasoning: through simple but rigorous language, the essay helps to understand seismic events as a natural phenomenon, an expression of the Earth in constant motion. A scrupulous research that manages to shed light on a phenomenon that affects Italy. The authors explain the scientific basis of the phenomenon, the social impact that an earthquake can have on society and the ways in which we can prevent earthquakes from turning into major catastrophes.
The ceremony, organized by the Accademia Grandi Eventi, with the artistic direction of Giuseppe Papasso, the patronage of the Municipality of Maratea and the support of the Basilicata Region, took place in the Planetarium hall with the conduction of the journalist Barbara Capponi.
