It will be held in Rome, from 10 14 to November, at Department of Architecture of theRoma Tre University, Beacon Satellite Symposium 2025 (BSS 2025),  one of the main international symposiums dedicated to the study of the Earth's ionosphere, organized byNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in collaboration with the 'International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Boston College (BC) , University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM).

The event represents one of the most important events worldwide in the field of ionospheric research and applications of technologies. satellite beacon e Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).

Born in 1972 on the initiative of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI), Beacon Satellite Symposium has been a for over fifty years point of reference for the international scientific community engaged in the study of the interaction between radio waves and the ionosphere, of ionospheric irregularities and of the effects of "space weather" on technological systemsi.

The 2025 edition will bring together in the capital experts, researchers and students from all over the world to share the latest findings in the field of Ionospheric Physics. Among the main topics addressed are the monitoring and modeling of the ionosphere, effects of geomagnetic storms on satellite and communication systems, as well as the use ofartificial intelligence and machine learning algorithm for the prediction and mitigation of ionospheric disturbances.

The symposium program includes plenary sessions, pre-symposium workshop e poster presentations, offering an important opportunity for comparison between scientific research, operational applications and technological development.

Il Beacon Satellite Symposium 2025 It represents a meeting point between the tradition of ionospheric research and the new challenges posed by technological evolution.

The initiative confirms the role of Italy and theINGV in the international research network on space weather, promoting scientific cooperation and knowledge transfer to society and infrastructure.

In the week preceding the symposium, a conference will be held at the headquarters of theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Training workshop dedicated to the use of GNSS data for ionospheric monitoring, organized by INGV, ICTP, Boston College, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and sponsored by theInstitute of Navigation (ION), From 'International Union of Radio Sciences (URSI) and from the scientific program SCAR AGATA.

The initiative is aimed in particular at young researchers and students from developing countries, interested in learning more about the satellite signal analysis techniques for ionospheric monitoring and modeling purposes.

The about 30 students involved, whose participation is entirely financed by the event organization, will participate in frontal lessons e in-depth sessions held by international experts in the sector.
