In the early hours of the morning (00.57 local time) a new phreato-magmatic explosion occurred on Etna, in the area where the lava flow is overflowing inside the Valle del Bove. The trigger mechanism of the explosion may have been similar to the one that occurred yesterday in the Belvedere area, at about 2700 meters above sea level. The phenomenon was repeated along the wall of the Valle del Bove also around 9:15 (local time). The staff of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) continues to constantly monitor the evolution of the phenomena.
ENT surveillance camera video showing the explosion at 00:57 (local time) today. The explosion is evidenced by a dense cloud that rapidly expands from the Valle del Bove area (right) towards the west (left).
