The Strombolian activity continues, with less intensity, at the New South East Crater (NCSE) reported in the 10.47 (local time) release of February 28, 2017. Around the vent, located in the saddle between the NCSE and the South East Crater ( CSE) a new cone is forming, the size of which increases as the activity progresses. The lava overflow from this vent slowly expanded at the base of the cone and was channeled into the depression between Monte Frumento Supino and the 2002 craters. The front of the latter is located at an altitude of approximately 2800 m asl. a weak ash emission from the NCSE, which is rapidly dispersed by winds in the direction of the eastern quadrants.
The average amplitude of the volcanic tremor, while showing a very modest tendency to decrease, remains at high values. With regard to infrasonic activity, within the context of the fluctuations of the parameters monitored, a slight decrease was recorded in the rate of occurrence of the events; the location of the infrasonic source only concerns the SEC/NSEC area.
