On 19 March, astronaut Thomas Pesquet immortalized the effusive eruption of Etna from the International Space Station which orbits the Earth at an altitude of over 330 km. The lava flow stands out in small reddish tongues visible in the lower left of the photo, in the middle of the darker area where the lights of the urbanized areas are almost completely absent. It is an eruptive activity of modest energy, not dangerous for cities, but spectacular to observe.
