The station, located in the center of the bay 2.4 km south of Pozzuoli? placed on the seabed at a depth about 100 m, ? connected via cable to a buoy (elastic beacon type) and via radio link to the monitoring center of the Vesuvius Observatory. The sensors that equip it are: Guralp CMG-40T broadband seismometer, hydrophone, three-component punctual current meter, precision pressure switch. There are also various status sensors in the submarine module. On the buoy, in addition to the power system consisting of solar panels and wind generator, present a complete weather station, a gps receiver and a radio apparatus. The system, totally created with funds from projects, including the V4 project of the DPC/INGV 2004-2006 convention, ? been designed and built in Italy and ? is the result of a collaboration between the INGV section of Naples, that of Roma2 and the Department of Physical Sciences of the University? of Naples. It represents the first step for extending the monitoring system of the Campi Flegrei volcanic area to the sea.
