An international appointment to talk about the New Space Economy and the possibilities of encounter and collaboration between avant-garde research and the Old Economy: INGV participates in the first European Forum with seminars, talks, posters and conferences on its main sectors of activity based on spatial data analysis

It will take place from 10 to 12 December, at the Nuova Fiera di Roma (Via Portuense, 1645), the first edition dell 'European Expo-Forum on the New Space Economy (NSE, http://www.nseexpoforum.com), organized by the Edoardo Amaldi Foundation and Fiera Roma.

The event, which will also be attended by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), is entirely dedicated to the potential of the space economy and aims to involve all those who are interested in this new ecosystem, creating an which the actors of the New Space Economy and Old Economy can meet to stimulate new collaborations and highlight existing possibilities.

L'INGV will be present at the Expo with a stand with the slogan “Our Planet from Space” to present the activities that the Institute carries out in this area. At the stand it will be possible to interact with INGV staff who will illustrate the main activities in which the Institute is involved.

INGV's research and service activities are carried out thanks to the use of observation data from space integrated with measurements made by ground-based systems, allowing for cutting-edge research on topics related to earthquakes, volcanoes and the environment. At the INGV stand it will be possible to follow short seminars aimed at presenting the main researches, products and services of the Institution, based on the analysis of spatial data. The Institute's activities will also be illustrated through 7 talks and 7 posters presented in the conference sessions dedicated to insiders. Furthermore, the presence of INGV experts will be guaranteed at the roundtables, in particular those relating to the "Emergency" and "Maritime" sectors. The stand will also present the products resulting from technology transfer in the space sector and the start-up initiatives implemented.

In particular, INGV will present to the Forum the activities carried out in five strategic sectors: Galileo, which through satellite navigation and positioning data allows the Institute to provide data and services for geodesy purposes, study and monitoring of the territory, precision positioning and for the mitigation of the effects of space weather, in particular for civil aviation ; COPERNIC, an Earth Observation program funded by the European Commission to generate products used to monitor and learn more about the natural phenomena of our planet; satellite missions, including the hyperspectral space mission ASI-PRISM, for which INGV is working on the development of next generation sensors for Earth Observation; service support and spatial data through the development and maintenance of monitoring networks on a regional scale, in Italy and in the Mediterranean, and on a global scale capable of providing real-time parameters and geophysical observations necessary for the validation of spatial data; development of start-ups and innovative technologies, like the spin-off SpacEarth Technology, which, over time, has led to various patents in space applications, showing potential applications in aviation, precision agriculture, maritime navigation and telecommunications.
