Ranking Plos Biology

With seven researchers, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) confirms its presence in the new world ranking of the best international scientists.

The ranking, compiled as every year by the magazine “Plos Biology” by researchers at Stanford University, collects the top 2%. of the entire international scientific community. The evaluation is based on the statistical analysis of the quantity, quality and diffusion of scientific publications by over 6 million researchers of universities and research centers around the world, in 22 scientific fields and 176 different subfields, from medicine to astrophysics, from mathematics to geology, with updated data of standardized citations as of 2019.

In the general ranking which contains approx 160.000 names, for INGV the Chairman Carlo Doglioni (in place no. 19.806), Giuseppe Etiope (52.920), Giovanni Chiodini (no. 57.623), Paolo Papale (no. 81.748), Antonio Costa (no. 85.841), Enzo Boschi former President of the Institute and passed away in 2018 (n. 90.286) and Guido Ventura (n.106.753), who distinguished themselves for the scientific impact of their research considered throughout their careers up to December 2019.
