Everything is ready for the VIII edition of "Planet Earth Week" which from 4 to 11 October will involve the public from all over Italy for an interactive discovery of the Geosciences, to spread respect for the environment, care for the territory and awareness of the risks to which we are exposed: because a more informed society is a more involved society.
This year's appointments with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will take you from glaciers to volcanoes.
Geosciences for everyone: 10 experts answer
The INGV of Portovenere (La Spezia), in collaboration with the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Pavia, offers three special online events leading the public to discover Antarctica, the sea and water, minerals in terrestrial rocks and meteorites, mountain formation and the exploration of the ocean floor.
For the more curious, 10 experts from all over Italy will answer questions from participants and clarify doubts about earthquakes, volcanoes, climate change, geological and environmental risks and the new challenges of scientific research.
The appointments are:
• Monday 5 October 2020, from 10.00 to 12.00: Live for primary schools;
• Tuesday 6 October 2020, from 10.00 to 12.00: Live for lower secondary schools;
• Tuesday 6 October 2020, from 15.30 to 17.30: Live for upper secondary schools and adults

Geology and archeology: the Seiano Cave and the Pausilypon Archaeological Park in Naples
The researchers of the INGV Vesuvius Observatory in the context of the Neapolitan Women in Science Coordination propose a suggestive excursion in Naples along the Posillipo Hill, from the Seiano Cave to the Pausilypon Archaeological Park, to discover the volcanic structure of the area and the presence of man from the Roman age to today:

The Ville D'Otium at the foot of Vesuvius: geoarchaeological walk in the Villa Di Poppea at the Oplontis excavations
The appointment with the experts of INGV, CAI and the University of Naples Federico II is at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii with the Oplontis excavations for a guided tour of the Villa of Poppea and the geological section representative of the eruption of 79 AD , to share the emotions of walking in one of the most fascinating archaeological sites on the planet.
