In Florence a cycle of conferences to promote the scientific tradition of studies on planet Earth
THENational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and Ximenian Observatory Foundation of Florence ETS organize a cycle of three popular conferences on Earth Sciences that will accompany the public to discover earthquakes, volcanoes e sea level rise. The objectives of the meetings, organized within the framework of the agreement between INGV and the Ximenian Observatory which will run until 2024, are to disseminate and enhance the scientific tradition that unites the two Institutes. The conferences will be INGV's contribution to the initiative “The Network of Scientific Culture”, born just this year from the agreement between various scientific realities of the Tuscan capital for foster the link between science and society and develop an avant-garde cultural offer with multidisciplinary and multidimensional research, in line with the European objectives of Sustainable Development dell 'Agenda 2030 and Next Generation US. Volcanology and volcanic phenomena. Living with volcanoes, in the world and in Italy Thursday 18 May 2023 | 18:00 | Terrace of the Ximenian Observatory curated by Tomaso Esposti Ongaro (INGV Director | Pisa Section) and Micol Todesco (INGV Director | Bologna Section) The conference will aim to explore the different nature of volcanoes, their interaction with the climate and with the life of the populations residing on their slopes. Sea level rise: a global risk Monday, May 22, 2023 | 18:00 | Terrace of the Ximenian Observatory curated by Marco Anzidei (INGV | National Earthquake Observatory) and Tommaso Alberti (INGV | Roma2 Section) The meeting will analyze the variation in sea level, focusing on the causes and effects in relation to climate change. Geodynamics and seismic phenomena in the world and in Tuscany Thursday 8 June 2023 | 18:00 | Terrace of the Ximenian Observatory edited by Carlo Doglioni (President of INGV) and Gilberto Saccorotti (INGV | Pisa Section) The conference will address the theme of the geological movements of the Earth which make it a living planet and which, over time, have shaped it.
