The CAMSIZER for the characterization of volcanic particles
- Details

The flagship instrument of the Laboratory is the CAMSIZER (Retsch), an instrument for the simultaneous measurement of the particle size distribution of pyroclastic samples in the range 30 μm-30 mm and of the shape parameters of the volcanic particles through the digital processing of acquired images from two digital cameras.
In 2006 we were the first institute in the world to use the CAMSIZER in the volcanological field for the characterization of volcanic particles. After us, other laboratories have also purchased this instrument or a more advanced model.
