On February 25 and 26, the University of Urbino “Carlo BO” will host the conference entitled “History and Research in Geosciences: a Tangible Alliance”, organized under the patronage of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The event aims to be a valuable opportunity for interdisciplinary discussion, aimed at both the scientific community and the interested public.
The initiative offers an overview of the different experiences of historical research applied to geosciences, stimulating dialogue between disciplines such as geology, seismology, meteorology, mineralogy, paleoclimatology and volcanology.
The speakers' interventions will highlight the contribution of this interdisciplinary approach not only at a scientific level, but also at a historical-philosophical and epistemological level.
The conference will explore themes related to the integration between historical research and scientific knowledge, highlighting how historical understanding can influence geoscientific disciplines and, at the same time, how scientific discoveries can enrich historical reconstruction, with reflections that will range from the analysis of seismic phenomena to the reconstruction of past climates, up to the investigation of volcanic phenomena.
The event will be both in person at the University of Urbino and remotely.
