With the presentation of the Italian candidacy for Einstein Telescope by the
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), partner of the ET project, has been carrying out experiments in the Sos Enattos mine since 2019 and, thanks to the MEET project, financed by the MUR with NextGeneration EU funds from the PNRR, will build the Sardinia Faber infrastructure, a new underground geophysical observatory at the Sos Enattos mine, intended for study the interior of the earth from a privileged observation point in which the seismic and geodynamic quiet contribute to guaranteeing geophysical data of excellent quality.
In the words of Carlo Doglioni, President of INGV, "The research of INGV and the geological characterization of Sos Enattos were fundamental in the preparatory activities for Sardinia's candidacy to host the Einstein Telescope".
The Einstein Telescope project sees the participation of many INGV Researchers and Technologists who work in the field of research geoscientific, actively collaborating with over 1300 researchers from all over the world engaged in the implementation of the European project.
