In 2012 the central part of the Po Valley was hit, between May and June, by a major seismic sequence. The most affected provinces were those of Modena, Ferrara, Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Mantua and Rovigo with victims, injuries and very serious damage to the building stock, for an estimated economic value of around 2 billion euros. The main shock was recorded on 20 May, at 04:03 local time, near Ferrara.
To remember the events that followed, the activities undertaken and the considerations that the company has drawn from them, the INGVterremoti team has created the “Earthquakes in the Po Valley of 2012” with the story of the impact of the earthquakes of that period through the ten most significant aspects from an environmental, social and economic point of view.
