As part ofICGG15 – International Conference of Gas Geochemistry, the international conference on the geochemistry of gases organized by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) under the patronage of UNESCO, the Municipality of Milazzo and the Region of Sicily, has activated a close collaboration between INGV and the students of "Leonardo Da Vinci" Technical, Economic and Technological Institute and the "Renato Guttuso" Higher Institute of Milazzo - Hotel sector.
During the Conference, taking place in the exclusive setting of the fortified Citadel, over 60 students from the Milazzo area were involved in the technical-logistical organization and scientific dissemination, to underline the desire of the organizers to involve the youngest in an event the only one that has attracted scientists from all over the world to Sicily.
The INGV researchers Alessandro Gattuso, Marcella di Bella, Davide Romano and Cinzia Caruso, coordinated by the Director of the Palermo Section Franco Italiano, have contributed to this collaboration by organizing training meetings with the teachers of the two higher institutes involved in recent weeks and providing them the scientific notions necessary to illustrate the exhibits in the Castle Keep.
The ITET students are coordinated by the Headmaster, Professor Stefania Scolaro, and by Professors Maria Tindaro Scolaro and Paola Emilia Rotuletti. The Headmaster of the Guttuso Institute, Professor Delfina Guidaldi, instead coordinated the catering activities with the vice principal Santo Mascena and the professors, the Chefs Fabio Parisi and Gaetano Previti and the Maître Giacomo Previti and Luca Trimarchi.
The future goal is to continue the collaboration between INGV and schools over time to foster ongoing training and bring students closer to the world of science and scientific research.
