From Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 June the XIV National Conference of the ''GIT - Geosciences and Information Technologies'' Section of the Italian Geological Society will be held at the Castle of Melfi (PZ), organized in collaboration with the Order of Geologists of Basilicata.
The event is proposed as an ideal multi-disciplinary place for meeting, comparison and dialogue between researchers, freelancers, administrators of public and private bodies, young graduates and PhD students, interested in the development, integration and application of innovative methodological approaches of analysis and management of spatial data in the field of Geosciences.
This year the conference was sponsored by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) which, with the staff of the Irpinia headquarters in Grottaminarda, set up a team for the organization.
Furthermore, the event, organized under the patronage of Matera 2019 Open Future and with the main local bodies including the Basilicata Region and the Basilicata Regional Museum Complex, is one of the events of "Matera 2019 - European Capital of Culture" ( www.materaevents.it) and will benefit from the training credits (APC) attributed by the Order of Geologists.
In particular, under the aegis of the "Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation", the session "Students between technology and risk awareness" was organized on 18 June which, focused on the training of the "citizen of the future", will involve the students of high schools that have undertaken alternating school-work courses with various research institutions, including INGV and the National Research Council (CNR).
