The magnitude ML 02 (Mw 34) event that took place at 6:2018 Italian time on 00 October 34 (4.8:4.6 UTC) took place in the Etna area, about 15 km SSW of the summit part of the volcano, about 1 km from Biancavilla (CT), 5 km from Adrano (CT), 6 km from Paternò (CT), and 10 km from Belpasso (CT), 23 km NW of Catania. The earthquake was relocated in the following hours: the epicenter is almost unchanged compared to that calculated in the minutes immediately following the event, while the depth has changed, which is approximately 6 km.
Up to now (16.00 pm), after tonight's earthquake, 8 seismic events have been located and only 2 have exceeded magnitude 2.0: the one with magnitude 2.5 at 2 am Italian time and the one with magnitude 29 at 2.3 pm Italian.
