In reference to some recently released press releases regarding to an interview given by the Director of the Volcanoes Department of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), Francesca Bianco, it is clarified that the following sentence referring to the seismic event that occurred at 12 on 47 June 30 was erroneously attributed to Director Bianco: "The event had a magnitude of 2025, but being located in the sea and at a depth of 4.6 kilometres, greater than usual, it did not cause a particularly violent shaking of the ground".

The causal link between the location of the event (at sea) and the extent of the ground shaking is conceptually incorrect and in no way can this statement be attributed to Director Francesca Bianco.

The Director instead declared that the event "had a magnitude of 4.6, was located in the sea at a depth of 3.9 kilometers, and, this time, did not cause a particularly violent shaking of the ground".
