The European Researchers' Night is back next Friday 27 September, the initiative promoted by the European Commission to bring the general public closer to the fascinating world of scientific research and stimulate the involvement of adults and children with interactive workshops, games, guided tours, seminars, exhibit and engaging lectures.
For the occasion, theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will offer a rich program of events throughout the country.
Thanks to the European Projects SCIENZA INSIEME-NET, SHARPER, SOCIETY, BRIGHT and STREETS, all the wonders that Earth Sciences can offer will be illustrated, for an incredible journey to discover our Planet.

Exhibit >> A PLANET IN MOVEMENT
Our planet never stands still. Tectonic plates are constantly moving, creating oceans and mountains, causing earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. But how does it happen? Come and see for yourself.
Exhibit >> HOW DO WE OBSERVE OUR PLANET?
What information do we collect to better understand the planet we live on? What do satellites orbiting the Earth observe? How do we use a thermal camera? How do we measure the gases emitted by the planet? Come and discover how the instruments allow us to observe and improve our knowledge.
Exhibit >> THE OVERWHELMING WAVE
How do tsunamis happen? Come and find out with us.
September 27th | Ferrara | Castle Square

Exhibit >> A LIVELY PLANET
How are earthquakes recorded and what is the difference with a bomb? You will be able to discover how earthquakes are generated, see how we record them through a seismic station and how we monitor microseismicity. We will show you the seismic records of the (controlled) explosion of a recently detonated war device. And what sound does a volcano make? We have made the voice of Stromboli audible. Come and discover how the planet we live on never stands still.
