Today the Dr. Fabio Ciciliano, Head of the Civil Protection Department, was a guest of the Roman headquarters ofNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). Received by the President of INGV Carlo Doglioni, by the General Director Simona Mennella and by the Directors of the Earthquake, Volcanoes and Environment Department, Claudio Chiarabba, Francesca Bianco and Massimo Chiappini, the doctor Ciciliano visited the Operations Room in Rome and, in connection with the Surveillance Rooms of the Vesuvian Observatory of Naples and of the Etna Observatory of Catania, followed live the continuous activities that the Institute carries out for seismic, volcanic and tsunami warning monitoring and surveillance throughout the national territory and of the Mediterranean, beyond the Institute's commitment in the field of space weather and on the environmental issues of the Planet system. Particular attention was paid to the illustration of “Earth Telescope”, the new scientific target of INGV, for an even more intense and profound observation of the Earth, investigating the complex and not yet fully understood aspects of our Planet.
