Open since July, the INGV Info Points on the islands of Vulcano and Stromboli are ready to welcome visitors with a completely renewed and interactive multidisciplinary information offer

From July 2024 in Stromboli and Vulcano the Info Points of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reopen their doors to welcome visitors, tourists, enthusiasts and the curious on learning routes of the Aeolian volcanic lands.
For over twenty years, the two Info Points, already known as the INGV Information Center of Stromboli and the INGV Information Center “Marcello Carapezza” of Vulcano, have been the reference points for information and scientific dissemination created by INGV in collaboration with the National Department of Civil Protection (DPC).
During the summer period, when the influx of tourists and residents is greater, INGV researchers will welcome visitors to the INGV Centers to illustrate the charm of Aeolian volcanism and the risks associated with it.
This year the Info Points reopen to the public with a renewed appearance and even more oriented towards multidisciplinarity andinteractive in scientific dissemination.
Not only information panels on the geology of the islands and on the geophysical and geochemical surveillance activities of the Aeolian arc coordinated by INGV Aeolian Monitoring Center (CME), but also dynamic monitors through which you can experience first-hand and in real time the monitoring activities of the active volcanoes of the Aeolian Islands.
Furthermore, from this year it is possible take a flight on Stromboli with the INGV virtual helicopter.
An integrated system, which the Institute makes available for the constant monitoring of volcanic activities and the scientific research that is continuously carried out on the structures, leads researchers to increasingly understand the mechanisms that regulate these giants of nature, offering useful information in the dynamics prevention of natural risks.
Good civil protection practices are also presented in the Centers by the DPC, with the brochure and infographics by “I don't take risks - Stromboli and Vulcano”.
The Info Points of Stromboli and Vulcano are open every day of the week, from 10:00 to 13:00 and, in the afternoon, from 17:00 to 20:00, and will remain open at least until 30 September.
