It will be held in the spaces of the University of L'Aquila, from 13 to 17 May 2024, the International School “Operational Space Weather Fundamentals” dedicated to space weather.
The School, conceived and organized byNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), is co-directed in collaboration with theNational Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) , Millersville University of Pennsylvania (USA) and boasts the patronage of important national and international institutions.
The aim of the event is to offer participants a 360° view on phenomena related to space weather, with particular attention paid to the practical aspects of monitoring and Forecasts.
The theoretical lessons will therefore be integrated by Laboratory activities which will see the direct and active involvement of students, to experience first-hand the potential harmful effects of space weather on infrastructures on the ground and in circumterrestrial space.
Furthermore, the section "Career" of the School will illustrate the skills necessary to work in research and surveillance centers dedicated to space meteorology.
The organizers hope to stimulate the involvement of the next generation of researchers in a rapidly expanding discipline. The School is in fact aimed at doctoral students and young researchers in Space Physics, Planetary Sciences, Aerospace Engineering and related subjects, as well as young professionals from monitoring agencies and the industry linked to space meteorology.
Applications must be submitted by Saturday 23 March 2024.
