By an act of concession free of charge for 19 years, until 2042, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) has acquired from the Lazio State Property Agency a fundamental center for scientific dissemination, the study of the Earth and the enhancement of the state's heritage.

The signing of the agreement between the President of INGV, Carlo Doglioni, and the Lazio Regional Director of the State Property Agency, Maria Antonietta Brizzo, was the culmination of a fruitful exchange of common objectives of the two institutions.

Il President of INGV Carlo Doglioni, accompanied by the Director of the Geosciences Museum (MUGEOS) of Rocca di Papa, Fawzi Doumaz, and by the Head of the Heritage and Infrastructure Services Center of INGV, Massimiliano Cerrone, expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration stating that "the agreement between INGV and the State property represents an important step for the dissemination of geosciences as an indispensable heritage for a healthy relationship between Man and Earth, an indispensable culture for the prevention of natural risks and respect for nature. The Geoscience Museum (formerly known as Geodynamic Observatory) will be the beating heart of our dissemination initiatives on the Alban Hills, a still active volcano, providing the public with a space dedicated to the exploration and understanding of our planet".

Fawzi Doumaz, Director of the Museum highlighted that "will increasingly become a meeting point for science, a place for research and schooling on the structure and functioning of the Earth, where visitors can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of geosciences through interactive exhibits, thematic exhibits and educational activities. Thanks to the agreement with the State property, INGV will have the opportunity to further enhance the museum, enriching the exhibition collections and expanding the educational offer aimed at students, families and even experts in the sector".

INGV and the State Property are enthusiastic about this strategic partnership which will allow the cultural and scientific value of the Rocca di Papa Museum of Geosciences to be increased.

Now we look to the future with the common goal of spreading knowledge and awareness of the importance of geological and volcanological research for the well-being of citizens and our planet.
