Develop technologies for monitoring and analyzing the physical risk of national critical infrastructure. It is the theme ofProgram Agreement signed today in Rome by the Presidents of ENEA and INGV, Gilberto Dialuce e Carlo Doglioni, during an event at the CNEL headquarters, which was also attended by representatives of institutions and companies in the sector.
Among the key points of the agreement is the Italian Center for the security of strategic infrastructures
“Italy is too fragile to natural hazards, and we forget past calamitous events too easily: it is the conflict between memory and oblivion to which we are subjected every day, as the late philosopher Remo Bodei reminded us. Earthquakes, landslides, eruptions, tidal waves, floods, gaseous emissions and ionizing radiation are all natural phenomena that will always exist. Earthquakes will strike Italy again and we must be ready with adequate prevention. It is therefore essential to protect national infrastructures”, he says Carlo Doglioni, President of INGV.
“The signing of this Agreement is part of the framework of the EWC Directive (Critical Entity Resilience), which must be implemented by the Member States through legal provisions which translate the strategic indications contained therein into actions, integrating them into the different national policies. "ENEA has long identified the critical infrastructure sector as a central asset for the development and application of skills in the fields of engineering and the production of ICT models and technologies", underlines the President of ENEA Gilberto Dialuce. “The CER Directive – he adds – considerably broadens the panorama of strategic infrastructures and services and identifies the primary objective to be achieved in the development of their resilience. And we are ready for this new challenge that requires a collaborative approach to guarantee systemic protection for infrastructures".
