The agreement between the two organizations for technological innovation in the field of geosciences has been renewed and expanded

With the new framework agreement between the two bodies, a new branch of INGV was established at the Geotechnology Center (CGT) of the University of Siena in San Giovanni Valdarno (AR).
With the new headquarters, the collaboration established over five years ago for studies in the field of prospecting geophysics, the reconstruction of the crustal structure of the Italian area and geomatics is consolidated and strengthened.
The CGT of the University of Siena has made the structure available free of charge, so that the exchange of knowledge between the researchers of the two institutions is increasingly intense, sharing experiences also in the context of using the equipment already acquired by the two institutions.

Great satisfaction was expressed both by the President of the GeoTechnology Center of the University of Siena, Prof. Riccardo Salvini, and by the President of INGV, Prof. Carlo Doglioni, who strongly supported the strengthening and institutionalization of the collaboration already existing between the two entities.

“Since its inception in 2002, the CGT”, says Prof. Salvini, “has represented a university structure dedicated to applied geological research and sector training with degree courses, masters and professional refresher courses. This collaboration with INGV represents a very important step for the future of our structure. I am proud of this renewed collaboration, with even the establishment of a branch of INGV at the CGT, and I would like to thank all the colleagues of the two institutions for their willingness and spirit of collaboration with which they have made this new agreement possible" .

"For INGV - says Prof. Doglioni - the collaboration with Universities that share the same interests in the geosciences is fundamental both for research and for the training of future researchers. INGV wishes to increase the bridges with the Universities so that the 'interchange contributes to a strong understanding aimed at the development of research infrastructures for a greater growth of knowledge of the structure and functioning of the Earth".

The recently signed Agreement is the natural development of a scientific collaboration on complementary topics. In fact, while the INGV pursues studies and research in the field of geosciences and the mitigation of natural risks, the CGT promotes technological innovation in the applications of geology and geological research.
Therefore, the collaboration between the two bodies will lead the researchers to develop the most advanced geophysics prospecting and geomatics techniques, improving the realization of scientific programs and sector publications and to share teaching with the students of the University, for the training of new generations of researchers.
