The Academy of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the National Society of Sciences, Letters and Arts in Naples has awarded the prestigious Rapolla Prize to Gianmarco Buono, a young researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV-OV).
The award was given for his research in the field of Earth Sciences, with particular attention to the Physics of magmatic and volcanic processes. His studies have explored crucial aspects such as the generation, segregation and migration of magma, as well as the complex eruptive mechanisms.
The Rapolla Prize is intended to enhance the scientific contributions of young researchers on topics of great volcanological and geophysical relevance. The award to Buono represents an important recognition of the value of Italian research in the sector and confirms the scientific excellence of the Vesuvius Observatory.
