The prestigious award was conferred Africa Award for Research Excellence in Space Sciences ofAmerican Geophysical Union (AGU) a Daniel Okoh, Nigerian scientist and research fellow at theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) within the project NORISK, coordinated by Claudio Cesaroni, INGV researcher. This award celebrates Okoh's contribution to Space Sciences and pioneering efforts in space weather modeling.

Daniel Okoh's research focuses on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in space weather modeling, which is opening new avenues for understanding and forecasting space phenomena.

The INGV NORISK project aims to improve the knowledge of natural risks related to Sun-Earth coupling phenomena and reduce their impact through space and geophysical research. Led by Claudio Cesaroni, the project is making significant progress in modeling and forecasting space weather phenomena, with important implications for satellite communications, navigation systems, and European and African power grids.
