From the 18 20 2024 September, at Benedictine Monastery of San Nicolò l'Arena in Catania, the sixth edition of the Alfred Rittmann conference, the biennial event dedicated to the father of modern volcanology in Europe which since 2009 has represented themost important meeting opportunity for the Italian and international volcanological community. The Conference is organized by theItalian Association of Volcanology (AIV) in collaboration with the 'National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV),University of Catania el 'International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI). During the three days of the Conference, over three hundred members of the international volcanological community will discuss the main scientific issues of interest to the sector, with particular attention paid to the activities of monitoring of volcanic areas, to the evaluation of the Volcanic hazard of our country and to the communication and dissemination of research and monitoring results. The appointment will be divided into 16 thematic sessions with 280 contributions between oral and poster presentations. A focus on the Phlegraean Fields (with the intervention, among others, of the Director of the Vesuvius Observatory of the INGV, Mauro A.
