THEInternational Academy of Underwater Sciences and Techniques gave to Marco Anzidei, first researcher of theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), The prestigious Golden Trident. This recognition, known as the “Nobel of underwater activities”, recognizes excellence and commitment in the field of marine and underwater sciences worldwide.
Founded in 1960, the Golden Trident is the highest honor for those who distinguish themselves in areas such as scientific, technical, technological, hyperbaric, as well as educational, artistic, sporting and exploratory activities related to the underwater world. Its illustrious awardees include personalities of the caliber of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Walt Disney, Folco Quilici, Jacques Piccard and Enzo Maiorca, along with many other internationally renowned pioneers and scholars.
Marco Anzidei was rewarded for his significant contributions to geophysical, volcanological and environmental research in the Mediterranean. In particular for his innovative studies on past sea level variations, future coastal scenarios and the analysis of underwater phenomena on the Aeolian Islands.
The Golden Trident award celebrates excellence in an interdisciplinary context spanning science, technology, art and diving. The Academy organizes internships, seminars and conferences, promoting knowledge and dissemination of underwater activities through the publication of research and specialist studies.
The awards ceremony will be held in the third Trieste Mare NordEst International Diving Festival, where Marco Anzidei will receive the Golden Trident together with other illustrious winners.
