The next Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May at Equi Terme in Fivizzano (MS) the new edition of the Geology Festival will be held: two days in which the Tuscan town becomes the village of geology for everyone, in a full immersion of excursions, workshops, scientific games, demonstrations, seminars, entertainment for children and adventure.
Here are the appointments with INGV researchers to inform about scientific aspects of the Earth Sciences but also to educate about natural risks.
Saturday 18 May 2024 | from 13pm to 00pm | Open space of the Circolo La Posta, Equi Terme
SEMINAR: Earthquake - From pen to nib. Earthquakes before the seismometer
>> With. Stefano Solarino
Seismometers entered the equipment of geophysical observatories as early as the second half of the 800th century, but it was only after 1960 that technology allowed efficient and continuous recording of seismic events. However, seismic catalogs list earthquakes that occurred up to more than 1000 years ago.
How were their characteristics reconstructed? What is the scientific value of this data? What do they represent in the general picture of national seismicity and above all seismic danger?
Sunday 19 May 2024 | from 15pm to 00pm | Garden of the Buca della Geologia, Equi Terme
Natural risks: let's play to learn about them and learn how to protect ourselves
