Registrations are open for the “Volcanological Flying School: how to monitor active volcanoes by UAS”, the first school on the use of drones in the volcanological field organized byItalian Association of Volcanology (AIV) with the collaboration and patronage ofNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The School, scheduled from 19 to 23 May 2024 at the INGV headquarters in Nicolosi (CT), will aim to teach doctoral students and post-docs who will participate in the activities a useful methodology for mapping the products of volcanic activity and updating the topography thanks to the use of remotely piloted aircraft. If places are available, registration will also be open to graduates and undergraduates in geological, geophysical and volcanological disciplines.
Through theoretical and practical lessons, laboratory activities and two days in the field for the observation and study of volcanic morphologies at high altitude, the experts will illustrate how to carry out surveys with drones, select satellite images and process the data in order to mitigate the risks related to volcanic activity.
The lessons will be held by volcanologists, geologists and geophysicists from various INGV offices and various Italian universities.

To register you have until February 1, 2024. More information in the playbill.
