From 1st to 8th October 2023 the Planet Earth Week, the scientific festival which since 2012 has been a fixed appointment for the dissemination and communication of Geosciences.
THENational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) is present in its eleventh edition to strengthen knowledge and awareness of the geological, environmental, naturalistic and cultural heritage of our country.
La event will be animated by numerous “Geo-events” scheduled throughout the country: excursions, walks, open doors in museums and research centres, exhibitions, conferences and workshops organized by universities, schools, research bodies, local bodies, cultural and scientific associations.

GEOQUEST TROPOMAG: A DIGITAL ADVENTURE TO REFLECT TOGETHER ON THE EARTH SYSTEM AND CLIMATE CHANGE
8 joint geo-events organized by the INGV offices of Lerici (SP), Bologna, Rome, L'Aquila, Palermo and Catania for a simultaneous challenge via web between the fifth classes of some scientific high schools in La Spezia, Bologna, Orvieto, Rome, L'Aquila, Catania, Palermo and Castelbuono (PA). With an interactive educational game, children will connect and live the digital adventure of Zolex, a bungling alien from the planet Cryos who, on the run for an environmental crime committed, ends up on Earth and meets an earthly friend. Will the boys be able to help him redeem himself? Who will win?
Each Geo-event will be conducted by an INGV researcher in collaboration with a teacher responsible for the initiative at the participating high school.

EARTHQUAKES: BEWARE OF THE ELEMENTS! DETAILS THAT SAVE LIFE
The INGV will welcome boys and girls from secondary schools to its Milan headquarters to talk together about earthquakes and prevention through a rich interactive program. Seminars, games and educational workshops will help children learn how an earthquake originates, what its consequences are and what to do to keep themselves safe in the event of an emergency, by talking and interacting with the researchers who will accompany them in the various activities.
