The session "The mountain of extreme environments" will be held on Friday 29 September at the Etna Observatory of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV-OE) as part of the National Conference of the Italian Society of Mountain Medicine (SIMeM).

The meeting will see the collaboration of mountain medicine specialists with INGV-OE researchers, offering a unique opportunity to share knowledge and skills in two fascinating but often distinct fields: high altitude medicine and volcanology.

The session will touch on crucial issues for those dealing with health in extreme environments includingacclimatization and high altitude diseases, mheat illnesses and skin damage, the impact of volcanic emissions on health

 At the end of the reports, ample space will be given to scientific discussion for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in different fields.

The Etna Observatory of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV-OE) is a center of excellence in research and monitoring of volcanic activities.
