From 2 to 5 May 2023 Naples will be the venue for the workshop 'hmnXNUMXjp-XNUMX', organized by'Institute National Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV),
Volcanologists will discuss the most recent studies on calderas and their eruptions, also with a focus on Campi Flegrei and its bradyseismic phenomena, considering Ignimbrite Campana, the most violent known explosive eruption that took place in the Mediterranean about 40.000 years ago.
Some of the world's leading volcanologists will be present, in person or remotely, including Chris Newhall, an expert in volcanic forecasts.
Gathering international volcanologists in Naples will serve to deepen the bradyseismic phenomena with many voices, comparing what happens in the Campi Flegrei with similar volcanoes in other parts of the world that produce ignimbrite.
Furthermore, the workshop will be an opportunity to elaborate the plan of an international research project on the Campi Flegrei caldera and on the Ignimbrite Campana, through detailed crustal studies.
