INGV researchers are engaged in the investigation of the natural sources of carbon dioxide in the urban and extra-urban area of Rome for the Amused Project, entirely funded by INGV. The measurements, carried out with a laser spectrometer installed on board a car, were carried out along routes of tens of kilometers across the city. In a second phase, the laser spectrometer was installed in various monitoring points including Villa Ada and Porta Metronia, within the urban area of Rome, and in Cava dei Selci in the extra-urban area. In each of the locations monitored, scientific instruments were installed for about ten days in order to study the daily variations in carbon dioxide emissions of both natural and anthropic origin.
