A new master's degree program in Volcanology created in agreement with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) enriches the training offer of theUniversity of Naples Federico II for the academic year 2022/2023. The course is the first in Italy to have volcanology as its central theme as a whole and in its most characteristic aspects and will be delivered entirely in English for the best training of new scientists. The INGV Vesuvius Observatory (INGV-OV) will be the main partner of the new training course and will allow students to acquire the best theoretical-experimental knowledge and skills both on the field and in the laboratories of the Observatory, both on the physical and chemical processes that govern the behavior of volcanoes, and on the danger associated with them. Thanks to the natural laboratory present in the Campania region, between the Vesuvius, Campi Flegrei and Ischia volcanoes, students will have the opportunity to study and specialize with an international scope on all topics connected to volcanology including probabilistic hazard estimates, monitoring analysis of active volcanoes and the modeling of volcanic systems, also participating in experimental activities typical of the best practices of volcanological observatories.
