Today, at the headquarters of the National Research Council - Institute for the study of anthropic impacts and sustainability in the marine environment (CNR-IAS) of Capo Granitola (Campobello di Mazara - TP), the intermediate workshop of the PON Project " Research and competitiveness” Marine Hazard.
The project, which aims at the development of innovative technologies for the identification, monitoring and mitigation of human impact phenomena in the marine-coastal environment, is coordinated by the CNR - Department of Earth System Sciences and Environmental Technologies (CNR- DSSTTA) and is implemented by a rich partnership of public research bodies, including the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
During the workshop, the presentation of various prototypes is scheduled, including the integrated observation platform of coastal systems, the active acoustic system for the identification of hydrothermal emission sites in a deep-sea environment, the first animal enclosure in the Mediterranean area for seeds of Posidonia oceanica to be made functional for the recovery of degraded seabeds and the reclamation platform for polluted sediments with a view to an integrated system capable of dealing in a modern and effective way with the relevant aspects in terms of risk mitigation in the marine environment.
Finally, there were numerous moments of discussion in the presence of important stakeholders on the progress of the work and future trajectories and on the possibility of including the Marine Hazard project within the new Smart Specialization Strategy planning, a tool that the member countries of the European Union adopt to maximize the effects of investment funds in research and innovation.
