Conferred to the project “Future Responsible Citizens 2.0 - Educational path of Civil and Environmental Responsibility”, for the second consecutive year, the Mention of Excellence of the 2022 Filippo Basile Prize for Training in the Public Administration, Section “Training Networks/Training Systems”.
The project, born under the agreement between the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and the Association for Sustainable Development and the Environmental Education Center of Messina (AssoCEA Me APS), sees the participation of INGV with the module CON.I.RI. (LIVING WITH NATURAL RISKS) - Educational Paths aimed at the prevention and mitigation of seismic and hydrogeological risk.
Over 2000 students, from 17 schools in the Sicilian provinces, have produced papers in which they have studied local problems in depth to give them greater and shared awareness of the risks which, in some cases, are not perceived. Among the topics covered, past earthquakes, good practices for the mitigation of seismic and hydrogeological risk and the fight against climate change, discussed with the experts of the entities involved with the aim of launching effective messages and solutions to the climate emergency .
The project was sent to the Basile Prize evaluators by the Metropolitan City of Messina as an example of best practice of the Sicilian territory and is coordinated by AssoCEA Me APS (Association for Sustainable Development and the Environmental Education Center of Messina) with INGV, CNR (National Research Council) and CTS IRSSAT (Institute for Research, Development and Experimentation on the Environment and the territory).
