Registration is open for "Teaching for EAS. The Earthquake: history teaches us”, the refresher course dedicated to science teachers in lower and upper secondary schools, organized by the University of Pavia and the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, in collaboration with the Italian Geological Society - Geosciences Education Division.
Delivered in online mode, the course aims to introduce teachers to the study of historical earthquakes with the methodology of Situated Learning Episodes (EAS), introduced in Italy by Prof. Pier Cesare Rivoltella in 2014.
The teaching activity for EAS is based on careful planning by the teacher and the course offers tools for experiencing situated and meaningful learning which, by overturning the dynamics of the traditional frontal lesson, favor a personal appropriation of the contents, creating artifacts digital for active learning of students.
The refresher course, retracing the phases of the EAS method, consolidates the acquisition through direct experimentation.
The topic identified for the practical activities is the study of historical earthquakes, but the course will allow students to acquire skills applicable to other topics as well.

The course is part of the Operating System for Training and Refresher Initiatives for school personnel (SOFIA) of the Ministry of Education.
