The workshop will be held on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 October in the Aula Magna of the Parthenope University of Naples Towards a 4-D view of the ocean: synergies and integration of Italian initiatives.
The meeting is organized by the Joint Research Unit (JRU) EMSO-Italia (European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water column Observatory), the coordination structure of Italian activities within the European infrastructure EMSO ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium) which sees as leader the INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology).
JRU partners are CNR (National Research Council), CoNISMA (National Interuniversity Consortium for Marine Sciences, ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), INFN ( National Institute of Nuclear Physics), OGS (National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics), ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), SZN (Zoological Station "Anton Dohrn") and IIM ( Hydrographic Institute of the Navy), in order to pool human resources and tools to monitor European seas, providing Italian and European marine scientists with technologically advanced infrastructures that acquire long-term time series of multidisciplinary data to study the European marine environment and natural and anthropic changes and dangers related to climate and biodiversity.

The workshop will be attended by the heads of other ERIC research infrastructures, of international projects and initiatives and of the Italian technological cluster BIG - “Blue Italian Growth” (CTN-BIG).
In the Naples workshop, the researchers want to explore a common path to integrate the many Italian infrastructures and initiatives that see our country as a protagonist in the European framework of marine research, enhancing the Italian contribution, role and weight in the European and international arena in order to preserve natural ecosystems, fight climate change and promote the development of a blue economy.
