The first year of operation of the ARISTOTLE-ENHSP project "European Natural Hazard Scientific Partnership" was successfully completed, born with the aim of providing the Emergency Response Coordination Center (ERCC) of the European Commission with scientific advice at global and pan- European 24/7 on different hazards: earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, floods, extreme weather conditions and fires.
The project, co-coordinated by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and funded by the Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG-ECHO), includes operational centers belonging to 14 European scientific institutions and two International organizations operating in the field of geophysics and meteorology.
With 34 activations worldwide and 145 natural disaster risk monitoring reports issued in the first twelve months of activity, ARISTOTLE-ENHSP is preparing to enter the next year of service with the aim of continuing to support the preparation and risk response framework of the ERCC under the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
