On Saturday 14 September, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) welcomed a delegation of ASEAN countries (Association of South-East Asian Nations) to its Rome office, hosted in Italy by the National Civil Protection Service on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The aim of the visit to our country is a training week aimed at strengthening technical and scientific knowledge and collaboration between Italy and the ASEAN countries for disaster risk reduction.
The delegation was received in the INGV Conference Room, where, after visiting the Seismic Monitoring Room, they attended speeches on the Institute's research and monitoring activities and the videoconference connection with the Operations Rooms of the Etna Observatory ( OE-INGV) and the Vesuvius Observatory (OV-INGV).
The delegation's training week also included visits to the competence centers of the Civil Protection Department (DPC), the CIMA Foundation (International Center for Environmental Monitoring) and Eucentre.
